Staying
In Touch
When traveling
abroad, there are many ways to
stay in touch.
*Cell phones. Depending on where
you will be traveling, many regular cell phones will work.
Some places in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America
and Canada. Contact your cell phone company to see where
you will get reception. Also, check to see what rates will
be while in these areas. Sometimes, even if you have free
long distance and roaming, you will get huge charges because,
these areas were not on your plan.
*International cell phones. These
are becoming very popular now for
travelers abroad. Bear Tracks Travel works with a company
that will rent to you
and then send you a phone just
before travel for your use abroad. Many of our clients
are using these now all over
the world. They work great and
are reasonable priced for the rental. Contact us at 651-429-5244
or info@beartrackstravel.com
*Calling cards. Best to purchase
in the country you will be in. Check with your hotel or
local shops to see what is the best way to call the US.
The calling cards you purchase there are usually convenient
and work great. Be ware of purchasing calling cards in
the US for use in another country. They say they work but
very often they will not work because of the phones etc.
*Email. Great way to stay connected.
You will be able to find internet cafes all over the world
now. We have even stumbled across them in remote China.
Make sure you know what the rate is before you sign on.
Most internet cafes will charge you by the hour. Internet
access will be able to be found in most hotels, cruise
ships and transportation areas. Know before you go, how
to access your email accounts broad.
